PELLE GUDMUNDSEN-HOLMGREEN
Sol går op, sol går ned (Sun goes up, sun goes down)
– a scenic symphony for singers
instrumentalists, actors and dancers
This workshop presentation is a result of a three day intense study and analysis of Danish composer Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen’s multi-layer stagework ‘Sol går op, sol går ned’ (Sun goes up, sun goes down) from 2011 – a non-opera with a clear dramatic structure and an almost Beckett-like dryness in the bare approach. The traditional linear timeline has been replaced with a cyclic universe supported in the use of the three main characters: Salomo (when old), Salomo (when young) and his beloved Sulamith – and in the voices of the chorus and instrumentalists.
The project is scheduled to tour from 2021.
