Nigel Osborne | The Tree of Life

 

Peter Navarro-Alonso | In Flagrante Delicto

In conversation with Theatre of Voices and Ensemble Stralo, Peter Navarro-Alonso composed In Flagrante Delicto, a 60 minute piece in four movements. The focal point of the new work was the renaissance composer, Carlo Gesualdo, who was notorious throughout the period for his dark and twisted mind, and even went as far as murdering his unfaithful wife.

In Flagrante Delicto received its premiere on 20 February 2022 at Sankt Maria Kyrkan in Helsingborg.

John Luther Adams | A Brief Descent into Deep Time

Created as a co-commission between Kings Place, Carnegie Hall, Cork International Choral Festival, and Theatre of Voices, John Luther Adams’ A Brief Descent into Deep Time received its official world premiere on 12 February 2022 at Kings Place in London.

The piece explores the geological layers of the Grand Canyon using voices, organ, percussion, and stones.

Eugene Birman | ARIA 空氣頌

ARIA 空氣頌 is a synthesis of music, installation art, climatology, and big data, written for Grammy and Pulitzer Prize winning ensemble Theatre of Voices. The music aims not only to visualize the data of air pollution, it seeks to mobilize audiences to confront the reality of quality of life and health in Hong Kong, and serve as a genuine marriage of computer science and art.

ARIA 空氣頌 was premiered with Theatre of Voices as holograms alongside the Hong Kong Children's Choir on 12 November 2020 in Hong Kong's Forsgate Conservatory.
