Pärt | Virgencita

Arvo Pärt's 'Virgencita' was written after the composer was invited to participate in the Cervantino Festival in Mexico with the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and Tõnu Kaljuste. Pärt wrote the piece with the Virgin of Guadalupe in mind, who is another facet of the Virgin Mary that is commonly seen in many Mexican Catholic churches.
