Mozart Requiem for two quartets - Kuhmo

  • Kuhmo Church Kuhmo Finland (map)

A. Mozart transformed from a genius into a legend with his final work, the Requiem Mass. He had avoided composing the Requiem, citing his busy schedule, but perhaps his fear of his own death held him back – a fear that tragically became reality in the midst of his most intense creative period. The Requiem, completed by Mozart’s friends, became one of the most moving musical monuments in history, still resonating today as a plea for mercy for the dead and comfort for the living. The new arrangement for string quartet and choir will be performed by Finland’s most successful chamber ensemble, Meta4, and the Grammy-award-winning Theater of Voices.
