In remembrance of the death of Heinrich Schütz 350 years ago, Theatre of Voices and Hamburger Ratsmusik embark on their tour Elbwärts (Elbwards) - A Schütz Tribute, 350 years.
Celebrated throughout Europe, Denmark's King Christian IV, one of the great music lovers and connoisseurs of the 17th century, twice managed to lure the "very best German composer" Heinrich Schütz from Dresden to Copenhagen for his court orchestra as chief conductor.
In addition to works by Schütz, the program also includes compositions by companions and contemporaries such as Michael Praetorius, John Dowland, William Brade and madrigals by Mogens Pedersøn and Hans Nielsen.
Theatre of Voices and Hamburger Ratsmusik's tour will begin in Lüneburg and finish Copenhagen with concerts in: Riesa, Halle, Bordesholm, Schleswig, Kappeln, Meldorf, Flensburg, Odense, Sønderborg, Hamburg, Løgumkloster, Næstved, Maribo, Roskilde, and Hillerød.
