Stravinsky - Les Noces

Stravinsky's Les Noces

3 TOV singers (Else, Iris and Will) are involved in this very exciting performance of one of Stravinsky's absolute master pieces - joined by fabulous Estonian tenor Mati Turi ! All with RIAM Ensemble and wonderful Chamber Choir Ireland - conducted by Paul Hillier.

The concert is part of the RTÉ 'Stravinsky in Focus' weekend 5th-6th February 2016.

Les Noces is very rarely performed in Ireland - and only performed for the first time a mere 8 years ago! If you missed it - join us on Saturday 6th in the National Concert Hall.

Four pianos! 6 percussionists - who don't leave any casualties!

Day two of the RTÉ Stravinsky in Focus weekend 5th-6th February 2016 sees the RTÉ Concert Orchestra join the RTÉ Contempo Quartet with Chamber Choir Ireland and the Royal Irish Academy of Music for selected
masterpieces from this music revolutionary.

Featuring two celebratory ballet scores - the wedding-inspired Les Noces and Pulcinella with its pulsing colour and neo-classical poise. These frame a rare outing for the miniature but muscular Concertino for String Quartet, together with the painterly expressiveness of Dumbarton Oaks and the glowing sonorities of the Concerto for Piano and Wind Instruments.
