Cambridge Music Conference 25th Anniversary Concert
‘For fearlessness, verve, and beauty and strength of individual timbre the six singers certainly deserve the five-star sweep.’ The Times
‘This group performs with spellbinding virtuosity’ The Telegraph
Arvo Pärt’s music shimmers with purity of sound and meditative simplicity. A simplicity that is deceptively hard to achieve: only the very best groups can sing it. And Theatre of Voices, the Anglo-Danish vocal supergroup, are the acknowledged masters in this field.
The Berliner Messe, premiered by Theatre of Voices in 1990, uses Pärt’s distinctive bell-like style (‘tintinnabuli’) in music that flows from reverent duets to full-choir proclamations of faith.
The programme also features works by four leading composers commissioned for the Cambridge Music Conference.
