For many years, the Carl Nielsen og Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen’s Foundation has supported the arts in Denmark - with a special focus on musicians and sculptors. On 12th October, no less than five awards of €100,000 are given to artists who have had a strong impact on Danish cultural life.
Our artistic director Paul Hillier is one of the recipients and will be joined by ACME String Quartet (USA) in performances of Jóhann Jóhannsson’s 'Drone Mass’ and by Ensemble STRALO (DK) for - our composer friend and also prize recipient - Peter Navarro-Alonso’s 'In Flagrante Delicto’.
The evening will open with a concert installation by Danish artist and price winner Marie Højlund, and will conclude with the last two recipients: Lasse Mauritzen - horn player and soloist in Saint-Saëns’ Morceau de concert, and Thomas Søndergård - conducting DR Symphony Orchestra in Carl Nielsen’s Third Symphony.
