World premiere in Aarhus: EntmenschT [DehumaniseD]
TOV’s first major feature this season will be in enTmenschT [DehumaniseD] by the award-winning Danish composer Line Tjørnhøj and visual artist Signe Klejs – a music theatre installation for five voices and surround sound electronics set with elaborate visuals and costume designs.
Line Tjørnhøj states that ''it has been a wonderful privilege to share the creative process of enTmenschT with Theatre of Voices and Paul Hillier. They have generously made themselves and their voices available, while kindly supporting the integrity of the work”.
In enTmenschT, Line Tjørnhøj deals with the dark, depraved, dehumanised sides of humanity, based on some of the most extreme and expressive characters in the history of art, Oskar Kokoschka og Charlotte Salomon and their respective lovers Alma Mahler and Alfred Wolfsohn.
For Theatre of Voices, Paul Hillier says that ''the process of bringing this marvelous and unusual work to fruition is the kind of thing for which I created Theatre of Voices in the first place. We have shared in the making of the work, yet I must say this remains Line Tjørnhøj's vision through and through. We are proud to be involved”.
EntMenschT [Dehumanised] at Åbne Scene, Godsbanen, Aarhus:
