Line Tjørnhøj nominated for 2022 Nordic Council Music Prize
A huge congratulations to everyone nominated for this year's The Nordic Council of Ministers and The Nordic Council Music Prize! And, of course, a special congratulations to Line Tjørnhøj .
Line's nominated piece, 'enTmenschT', was premiered by Theatre of Voices in 2018 and is a beautifully poignant work that highlights many of the dehumanizing effects of structural sexism - in western society and perhaps in the arts in particular. The effects of war trauma and trauma after abuse are central to the dysfunctional relations presented in this groundbreaking piece. World War I is the specific backdrop of the narrative about Alma Mahler, Charlotte Salomon, Alfred Wolfsohn, and Oskar Kokoschka. These themes are universal and sadly relevant as has been shown with #MeToo and the war in Ukraine. Human nature laid bare - warped and twisted under enormous pressure.
See a bit of the 2018 performes - Else Torp, Iris Oja, Paul Bentley-Angell, Steffen Bruun Rørvig and Paul Hillier. Hissing, screaming, whining, shouting, humming - and .. singing
