Mezzo

Belfast born mezzo-soprano Laura is based in Denmark and enjoys a busy concert schedule in Europe as well as touring further afield.

She began her professional singing life as a Lay Vicar Choral at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin. After a while living on a volcano in Sicily, she lived in London for several years where she performed with a variety of ensembles including Arcangelo, The Dunedin Consort, Siglo de Oro, Polyphony & The Gabrieli Consort. Laura is a regular member of Ars Nova Copenhagen.

Solo performances have included the role of Irene in Handel’s ‘Theodora’ with the Irish Baroque Orchestra, Dido in Purcell’s ‘Dido & Aeneas’ with Sestina, Handel’s ‘Dixit Dominus’ with the Irish Chamber Orchestra, Copland’s ‘In the Beginning’ with Chamber Choir Ireland, Britten’s ‘Phaedra’ with pianist Miles Lallemant and most recently a series of lockdown concerts in the garden squares of Kensington and Earl’s Court, a recital for the Oxford and Cambridge Club in London and Handel’s ‘Messiah’ with the Irish Baroque Orchestra.

In her ‘spare’ time, Laura manages ‘Kensington Olympia Festival of Music and the Arts’, a London based charity providing a platform for young musicians.
