Zagajewski in Music - 'Where the Breath is'

Koncertkirken, Blågårdsplads
Sunday, Feb 23, 2020 at 3.00pm

The Argentine composer Pablo Ortiz, with whom Theatre of Voices has collaborated in the past, has, through mutual acquaintances, made contact with the Polish author Adam Zagajewski and composed music for a number of his poems. Zagajewski is in a league where there is rumor of an upcoming Nobel Prize, and he is highly respected in both Poland and in international literary circles.
ComposerPablo Ortiz grew up with tango as part of his DNA, and although he now writes and teaches new compositional music at UC Davis in California, he himself describes Argentine music as a deep source of inspiration.
In this concert, lyrics and music are presented together in the work 'Where the Breath Is'. The work is written for soprano and string quartet and is performed by soprano Else Torp and The Smith Quartet (UK).
