Jesenka Balic Zunic, violin

Born in 1982 in Zagreb, Croatia.

Started to play violin in 1990, entered the Royal Danish Academy of Music in 1998 and graduated in 2004 in the class of Alexander Zapolski. During the studies spent a year at the Music Academy in Karlsruhe studying in the class of Ulf Hölscher.
Developed interest in early music performance in 2001 and took the first lessons in baroque violin with Peter Spissky. Shortly after, was engaged to play in several professional baroque ensembles in Copenhagen and Sweden (Concerto Copenhagen, Malmö Barockorkester and Øresunds Barokorkester) and today is an invited member of Norsk Barokkorkester and Theatre of Voices. Since 2003 the leading violin of the Holmens Barokensemble which is conducted by the  composer, organist and harpsichord player Jakob Lorentzen. Often invited to play the leading violin in other ensembles, like Enghave Barokensemble. In June 2009  finished the “Perfectionnement” study of baroque violin at Paris Conservatory (CNSMDP) in the class of François Fernandez.
Attended numerous master classes with the following renowned baroque specialists: John Holloway, Anton Steck, Manfredo Kramer, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Sirkka-Liisa Kaiikinen Pilch, Gottfried von der Goltz and Bob von Asperen.
Recipient of grants from Augustinus Fonden, Karen Marie Nielsens Kunstlegat, Børger Schrøder og hustru Herta Finnerups Legat, Wilhelm Hansen Fonden, Danmarks Nationalbanks Jubilæumsfond, Toyota Fonden, and Fondation Meyer.

As a soloist or member of various chamber ensembles has given concerts in many European countries (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Croatia, Austria, Poland, Estonia) as well as a concert tour with Jean-Yves Naviner in Mexico in 2007 and an invited concert with Manami Haraguchi at the Akbank Sanat’s Baroque Music Days in Istanbul in January 2010.
