Bente Vist, soprano

Bente Vist began her studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. Subsequently she went to New York to study at Juillard School of Music and finished her education at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. She has studied with Oren Brown, New York, Emma Kirkby, London, Ellen Müller Preis, Wien, Susanna Eken, and Bodil Gümoes, Copenhagen.

Bente Vist has been member of the Danish vocal ensemble Ars Nova Copenhagen has has recorded more than 20 CDs with the group. The last couple of years she has sung with Theatre of Voices and Paul Hillier. Bente is one of the leading interpreters of contemporary music in Denmark and Per Nørgaard, Bo Holten and Palle Mikkelborg has composed music for her high soprano. Bente Vist has also recorded film music and has performed with Danish Dance Theatre, Hotel Pro Forma, Hollandhouse, and The Royal Danish Opera.

As soloist Bente Vist has sung in works such as Handel's Messiah, Bach's Christmas Oratorio, Haydn's Creation, Mozart's Requiem, and Orff's Carmina Burana. In 2009 her CD "Seadrift" with music by Per Nørgaard was released at Dacapo Records and nominated for the highly recognized P2 Prize.
